Link to a horrible post: A Homophobe Comes Out: Free at Last!.

I've gotten a bit of heat over at the Exodus: Live Out Loud Blog for linking to a blog that linked or links to the above blog (Alain's Newsletter.)  I don't always agree with Stacy but she is someone I don't have a problem linking to or working things out with.  When I have had ongoing discussions with her via email I find her to be a very thoughtful and gracious lady.  I am sure she would disagree with me on some stuff as well but I think the respect is mutual.  That said, I certainly don't know why or what the story is behind why she has allegedly linked to that awful blog.  Now, when people blame me for her decisions … I think that is what they call "jumping the shark." It's just a tipping point to go all downhill from there on criticizing Exodus and/or myself for what they really want to say which is, "Exodus is hateful."

Which is a lie.  This particular allegation is so petty (my personal observation… not Exodus) I wouldn't have responded to it.  Reasonable people know that we are not hateful or anything like Alain's Newsletter.  I am only responding now as a pretext to why I ran across that blog post linked above.

Homophobia has been watered down by gay identified activist to mean anyone who has any disagreement with their closed minded view of same sex attraction.  The truth is that homophobia is the irrational fear of homosexuality.  I do not think that it is a society wide problem but at the same time, where it does exist, it is NOT funny.  It is not an appropriate issue to make light of and those who do make light of it deserve to be rebuked.  Alain's Newsletter says that it is conservative and Christian, what I find in it's actions would be indicative of something else: unrestrained juvenile sarcasm.  It appears to be one of those rant blogs that does not add anything to the discussion and only feeds on insulting those they disagree with.  Granted, I have not looked past that one post but my goodness…who would want to?

Stacy, if you read this, please drop Alain's Newsletter from any of your links.  Alain (or whoever contributes over there) drop the smart aleck schtick and grow up.

Update 3/31/06: Stacy writes

Just so you know, I don't read most of what is on Alain's
Newsletter. In fact, I have no idea what all the fuss has been about. I
was asked to contribute to the newsletter by Alain and invited to just
contribute the articles I write….which haven't been many.

I probably should look more into what the fuss is about…that's what I'm hearing here.

The last thing I was aware of concerning Alain's Newsletter was that
Google wouldn't put it in their Google News section, and that was
discussed on Janet Folger's show the day I was on with her.

Which wasn't the reason I was asked on her show. Janet asked me on
to talk about my experiences at GLSEN and my article about CBS.

So, I hope that explains where I've been coming from. I know certain
troublemakers like to say things I don't say or imply I have said or
endorse things I don't endorse. FWIW.

Thank you Stacy for bringing your perspective and truth to the situation.

Great post Randy, Really great post! I once emailed Stacy and asked her if she really wanted to be associated with the folks over at Alain’s Newsletter. She never replied to me.
I applaud this post with standing ovations!

Thank Randy. Now I understand why it was such a big deal to the guys at ::: NNFC – Not Nice Fan Club Chapter #4 ::: to link that whole thing about me! Augh…see, that came out of the blue when they linked me.
And I guess you could say that my blog and me are guilty only by association.
FWIW, I agree with you and JOE on the homophobia issue. :)
