Washington Briefing - Tony Perkins Welcome

Tony PerkinsTony Perkins is the President of the Family Research Council
First Perkins states that our values are far to important to entrust to politicians alone. This is very true

He also said the signers of the constitution were values voters and they created the inalienable rights of the constitution based on the value of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These are the values we have as values voters and we want our leaders to have these values.

Then he explains what the agenda of values voters actually is … (paraphrased)

Restoring a culture of life - end judicial tyranny Roe v. Wade. Activists judges are not an excuse for lawmakers to not do what they should do. They should protect the unborn.

They should protect marriage. - It is a natural institution that society at all levels should reinforce and advance. Marriage must be enshrined in the constitution.

Freedom of Religion and religious liberty. The role of faith in the public square is not beyond discussion but is beyond a doubt that its presence is a right and should be protected.

Work toward a Culture of Decency. We have defined deviancy down and that needs to be corrected.

Then Perkins, shares about his grandmother. She died at 84. During her decline in health she crocheted a baby blanket even though no one in the family was pregnant. She did so because she wanted to help prepare for the future even though she was dying. Her example is one that we should consider. We can live our lives to the very end preparing the way for the next generation. We must stand for those values because the future depends on it.
