1 Peter 2:1 (AMP)
1SO BE done with every trace of wickedness (depravity, malignity) and all deceit and insincerity (pretense, hypocrisy) and grudges (envy, jealousy) and slander and evil speaking of every kind.
I just read about the new scandal brewing (Chris Crain - Gay blogger) and I am saddened for all involved. From the Curtis family, the exploited (for sex and porn) male prostitute (Cody Castagna), Rep. Curtis and even the gay bloggers having yet another field day with the whole sad and sordid details.
The above scripture is a part of my meditation tonight and it just seemed appropriate for this situation.
My first knee jerk reaction was to go and cull out and quote all the horrible things the gay bloggers were saying and describe them in all kinds of ways that would try to make the case that, in other areas, they were as hypocritical as the Representative. I wanted to rant about how their actions/reactions are even more reasons to not go back to identifying with the “gay” community. The above scripture stopped me.
It was the “so be done …” that stood out. The rest of the scripture obviously fits into so many different aspects of the situation but the “so be done…” part just shut my mouth for a moment.
I want to be “done” and do not want to participate (by writing) anything in line with the character defects listed in the scriptures. I am looking for the way to look at this situation that is not framed in polarization or reacting to that polarization. I think people are looking for pragmatic leadership and handling of situations … I doubt I am the only one. I am not saying that I am the person to provide that leadership but I do want to communicate pragmatic views (whether they are received or not.)
… And yes, I am still meditating. Please add your thoughts.
