Obama’s Messaging
I alluded to this after Iowa but I am going to say it directly… Obama has “IT” on messaging. I don’t believe for a moment that he has the experience or substance to pull of the messaging but … he shoots out above the fray with his very powerful messages of hope, unity, change, “Yes, We Can!” It’s positive and inspirational and different from the rest of the pack.
The Republicans need to study his speeches not for the back up content but for their ability to ignite crowds. Obama sounds Presidential and casts vision that draws people in. He’s getting support by compelling people to join in and owning the vision … not simply supporting *his* vision.
“Ownership” is compelling and offers something the American people are metaphorically starving for … we are starving for vision. I think we strongly desire positive vision casting which we have not had much of, if any, for a long time. We need vision casting we can actually feel a part of.
I believe Obama purposefully does not get specific because that requires talking points which people are desensitized to and tune out of.
I haven’t fully fleshed it out but there has to be something here and I don’t think conservative Republicans should ignore Obama’s talent or message because they believe he is soon to be exposed for not having any substance. Again, I don’t believe he can pull off the vision that he casts but he is doing excellent in casting a vision the average person can understand and feel like they personally own.
… as always I reserve the right to be wrong.

Onono nonononono. Obama is likeable and I would never pass up an opportunity to have a conversation with him … I respect that I think he means what he says …
but … dude … libbbbeerrrralllll.
I know you were j/k’ing :).
I find him to be very compelling. I too have doubts as to whether his actions can live up to his rhetoric. Frankly, after watching him, he “seems” more Presidential than anyone else out there. Of course, looks can be deceiving as someone keeps reminding in relationship to my Bush votes.

Jonathan…would you care to explain further?
I think Bush has had serious serious communications problems (in house and publicly.) That isn’t good for a President.
That said, he has led us according to his convictions. I believe he has been honest (even when wrong) and I do NOT think he is ignorant at all. Anyway, just interested in some concrete examples of what you meant in your last comment.
Mostly I meant that I get a lot of grief because I voted for Bush in the first go-around. I thought he “seemed” Presidential. I no longer feel that way. I don’t know whether he’s crazy-like-a-fox or just crazy. I don’t think history will be kind to him. While I like Obama alot, I’m nervous that he too will be like Bush in that he seems Presidential, but his lack of experience might prove to be his downfall.
