Interesting to see how the Democrats all seem unified on these issues. The Republicans, on the other hand, seem to be all over the place. As a Republican, I wonder if that's such a good thing. It causes me to question how unified the party itself is as a whole right now, compared to the Democrats, and how that might hurt the party in the general election. One thing that I definitely see happening is that the Republican party is moving slightly more to the moderate/conservative side (and especially will now that it looks like McCain will get the nomination), rather than strictly conservative. I do think that's, in certain ways, a good thing, but I hope it won't fracture the party. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how things play out, but I think it's clear the Republican party is shifting somewhat in its seat.

I find that interesting because in one sense it could be argued that the Republicans are the ones who allow for diversity of opinions. I don't know if it will fracture the Republicans... we will have to wait and see. I can say that while I am a registered Republican, I will vote for the person who most closely matches my worldview and expectations of a leader.

I would agree with you on the whole that it is becoming more moderate. However, I would reframe it. I believe there is more of a battle between secular humanism vs. Biblical worldview and morality. I wrote about that here.
