Another Political Sex Scandal - Gay Democrat Molests 15 Year Old

Wonkette reports, in their usual crass way, the whole sordid story of a political sex scandal that doesn’t seem to be making the news (WARNING: Wonkette is a liberal rag of a blog that is actually rejoicing over this crime.) Stan McGee, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick’s assistant secretary for policy and planning was busted for forcibly molesting a 15 year old while he was in a very nice resort here in Florida. Mr. McGee is openly gay and has participated in a very public union to his partner. He is of course a high profile person in Massachusetts.

There are all kinds of ways to report this story: Why hasn’t the MSM picked up on this more? … is this just expected of gay democrats? Is his partner devastated and wanting a “divorce?” What does this say, if anything, about gay male monogamy? Ephebophilia? Public sex? The notorious reputation of gay males having random sex? There are again, alllll kinds of ways to turn and twist this story.

But, I want you to take a look at Mr. McGee’s picture with his partner, Mr. Finley, from The New York Times and then his mugshot.

Quite a difference between the public face and private shame. That is a stunning example of living a double life.

I mentioned the above angles to the story because they are the obvious ones the MSM (Mainstream Media) is ignoring. The angles that are a little deeper but ones that the MSM definitely won’t go into are, what would make a grown, successful and prominent man do such a stupid, harmful and illegal thing? … what is the impact of sexual predation by homosexual/heterosexual ephebophiles?

About Mr. Finley, one time, when I found out that one of my partners had cheated on me, I was absolutely heart broken. Issues, morality and what’s right and wrong aside, I know that particular pain all to well and I can’t help but have empathy and compassion for Mr. Finley. I am also going to assume that he is devastated for the young boy too.

It is hard for me to have compassion for Mr. McGee but it is there somewhere. I am sure that this has to be (and should be) difficult for him. I will pray for him to find freedom from the internal drives that led him to do such a dangerous thing and commit this crime against the young boy.

But that is where this all ends up, a fifteen year old boy was molested…. that is who should be the primary focus. He deserves justice. He has my prayers that this event doesn’t traumatize or stifle his future in any way.

I don’t think there are all kinds of ways to report this story. Just one. He is alleged to have broken the trust in his relationship. If I were his partner, I would stand by his side publicly because they are just allegations. Privately, I would question the heck out of him and pray that he was honest. If the allegations proved to be true, I would be devastated because he broke the trust we had and, he took the commitment we made and deemed it as unimportant.

If I were his partner, I don’t know what I would do should the allegations prove true. If you’ve ever been in a long-term, committed relationship (including marriage), you understand that you are sometimes faced with really difficult decisions. What do you do when you’ve been betrayed? What do you do when the person you’ve committed your life to screws everything up (and that includes criminal behavior)? Where does forgiveness enter into the picture or does it?

Whether gay or straight, our society tells us that relationships need last only as long as our feelings (and lord knows, those are notoriously unstable). As for the 15 year old in question…I don’t know him and won’t pronounce judgment on him. I do know some 15 year olds in my neighborhood and they are far from innocent. Of course, neither was I at that age.

Of course I disagree J. I think the biggest angle is that the main priority should be on the victimization of the 15 year old. He reported that he was forcibly assaulted. I agree that most 15 year old boys are a mess of trouble but that doesn’t excuse an adult from being an adult and knowing better than to molest them.

Hey J. Why is it that most of my gay identified friends will jump all over posts like Hutch or my one on median incomes but on these…they just don’t say anything? I could make guesses but … I truly am intrigued by that phenomenon.

Weekend post? Topic? I know people are reading this article as much as the others but the comments go *poof*

I don’t post for the comments (even though I love discussion), I just wonder why it seems only certain types of posts get all the attention and others don’t.

Any thoughts?

Randy, Maybe because we agree with you in the main substance of this post?

That it is devastating for this man’s partner.
That it is a betrayal of age, trust, and influence.
That we too are praying for all parties involved.

And though you attempt to conflate sex abuse with gay relationships (or the lack thereof), link abuse with orientation, and turn “public sex, ,ephebophilia, and random sex” into a discussion of gay monogamy … to harp about those things would be to do a disservice to the boy and miss the main issue: “a fifteen year old boy was molested…. that is who should be the primary focus.”

Like you, I’m not going to lose sight of that.

Interesting. Seriously… interesting. There are a couple of blogs that I would disagree with the main writers viewpoints but very rarely do I leave comments in disagreement. I try to comment when I can agree. That isn’t often but it is often enough. I guess I might have a different purpose in being a commentor on a blog in that I want to be relational. It appears that many don’t, they want to only be adversarial. Not saying that is the case here, well except for a couple of commentors. I just personally can’t imagine I would want to participate on a blog where my only interaction would be at odds with the blogger.

Anyway, about conflating. I wasn’t trying to do any of that. I believe what I presented were newsworthy angles worth exploring that the MSM uses allllll the time in other contexts but refuse to do in this one. Plus, I did hopefully balance the post out with compassion for Mr. Finley’s situation.

I am glad you agree with the 15 year old being the primary focus. Our young people are abused and victimized all the time and people lose sight of them by over-focusing on the adult who committed the abuse. Just my opinion.

I find I’m most attracted to blogs where I find both agreement and disagreement. Discussion and disagreement often leads to greater understanding for all parties involved. I talked recently with a group at my church about how often relationships are *stronger* after they have been gone through troubling times and been mended. I doubt I would find a place in a blog where all I ever said was “I agree.” Though, I’d probably feel alienated if I *never* found common ground.

That being said, I’m not sure what else there is to add here. It’s a tragic story and I hope that the parties involved can deal with it privately, where healing is most likely to occur.

In other posts, I’ll make sure that I pipe up more often in support!
