I rejoined a gym a few weeks ago but this is the first full week of exercise so I just took down my weight and figured out a work out to start with. So this week I don't have a status update.
I have broken my weight loss goal into three actual goals and I will provide percentages of how far I go each Friday along with other thoughts for the week. First update on weight loss goals will be next Friday.
However there is more to this weeks post.
Needless to say, it was tough facing reality this week. What used to be easy for me to do at the gym is not so easy and even a little dispiriting. At the same time I feel *good.* I was in a gym for five years before this last 7 month hiatus and this week was hard but my body literally breathed a sigh of relief to be moving again. So all in all, it felt good to be back but reality was a little bit of an eye-opener.
Interestingly I saw Mr. Realtor this morning (he is also a friend) and he told me his wife thought I was in my mid twenties and was shocked to learn that I was about to turn 40.
I'll try not to arrogantly gloat about having good skin.
Also, I was on the elliptical today ( I actually love that machine ) and this older cranky lady was walking by. She did not look happy. BUT, she had on this total old lady white track suit, every piece of gold jewelry she owned, and was just cute in a cranky way. I smiled at her as she came walking by and she totally changed. She smiled back and said, "You better stay young…" then she pointed at me, "you keep yourself young! Cause when you get old …" she smacked the air and did this thpppppft sound with her mouth, "… when you get old … it just goes to crap!" I told her, "I am about to turn 40 so … "she cut me off, "… SO young, you are so young…keep yourself that way … I am twice your age!" and she tottered off smiling.
Living in Florida has given me a whole new appreciation for age.

Way to go, bro! Here’s to old ladies and friends putting things in perspective!
::: woot ::: Thanks Laura Leigh
WOW, Randy, you really don’t look anywhere near the ballpark of 40. Must be good genes! Otherwise, please share your secrets!
Why thank you very much. It’s totally good genes because I don’t do anything special. My Mom has great skin too. Come to think of it, my bio Dad’s family all had good skin too.
However, all the men (on both sides) went verra bald. I must have gotten the recessive gene on that one.
Good luck, Randy. It’s amazing how working out can make your body feel so good, but it’s so easy to get out of the habit…
Thanks Brady.
