Minute Clinic

Minute MedicI went to my local drugstore to get some cough drops and to ask where the closest walk-in clinic.  My regular doctor was booked up and they recommended, based on symptoms, to go to ER or a walk-in clinic.   It has been a very long time since I have gone to a walk-in clinic but the last time (twenty years ago?) was a nightmare of screaming kids, angry adults and crowded misery.

After packing up my iPod, MacBook, a regular book, and whatever over the counter stuff already obtained, I headed out.  I carried all this distraction because I figured I would be there long enough for the “every 4 to 6″ hour window to expire.

But, I needed more cough drops and I was sure they would know where the nearest clinic would be at.  What I didn’t know is they had the Minute Clinic in the back.

In twenty minutes, I was diagnosed and walked out with a prescription for antibiotics and recommended over the counter meds.  They also faxed all my information over to my regular doctor to add to my files.

I was right that my current health problems started as a cold last week but I was wrong in that it didn’t develop into the flu… it developed into a full on bacterial infection of my sinuses which spread to my throat.  They told me it was a good thing I came in before it developed into something worse.

Aren’t you glad to know all that? ::: ewww :::

Anyway, it’s important to blog about good experiences and Minute Clinic provided one for me today.
