A Brief Introduction
Greetings, blog readers.
I just thought I’d stop by to introduce myself in person (in the virtual sense, that is.) I’m excited to be blogging here, because Randy is a super guy, too much fun, and everyone who blogs here seems to be fascinating. I hope you can all say the same for me. I would have stopped by to say hello a lot sooner, but my computer died and was only resurrected after 4 days. Isn’t that the way it always goes?
I’m a 28-year-old author from a tiny town in Pennsylvania, nestled between two mountains, where the power goes out once a week, the nearest McDonald’s is a 30-minute drive away, and you frequently have to swerve to avoid piles of horse dung in the middle of the road, courtesy of the Amish buggies. Now you understand why I spend so much time online…
My first book, Adventures In Holy Matrimony, came out in 2005 on Relevant Books. I am co-authoring a new marriage book with my friend Sheri Mueller of Growthtrac.com, and my new passion is writing about mental health and the Church. As someone who wrestles with Bipolar Disorder, I have been on the receiving end of far too many well-meaning Christians saying hurtful things, purely out of a lack of knowledge. I feel like the Lord wants me to educate people on what mental illness actually is, and how we ought to be ministering TO the mentally ill. Having said that, I am also co-authoring a book about exactly that, though it is in the very early stages. More on that later.
I have been married to my husband, Scott, for 7+ years. He’s my best friend, and frankly, I think he’s quite the stud. We have a rabbit who, I am convinced, is far more intelligent than the two of us combined. I often wonder if she plots against us in the middle of the night while we are asleep. We have 4 nieces and nephews, and the oldest two live here, I think. I don’t doubt they love us, but I’m thinking they hang out as much as they do for the free food and Playstation.
It’s great to meet all of you, and I’m looking forward to getting to know you better.
Hope you have had a very blessed Good Friday.

Welcome! and you are super nice. I am so glad you are here and look forward to your contributions.
Julie, you must satisfy my absolutely wild imagination about your intelligent rabbit with some specifics of its acumen. I have never heard of a brainy rabbit, save the one whose famous line is “What’s up doc?” Perhaps your rabbit can cut a hole in the floor with a saw? Substitute a stick of dynamite for a hot dog? How about sing in the bathtub? Gosh, you’ve really got me going….help!
Hello, Julie. I’m going to try and avoid starting with a cheesy comment like, ‘I like your name’- oops, there it slipped.
Glad to ‘meet’ you. I’m so excited to hear about your passion for mental health and the Church. I have a similar passion to see those with deveopmental disabilities and all disabilities, really, including mental illness, fully integrated into their rightful place in the Church.
I look forward to reading your posts here and exlporing your own blog.
