Is Palin Just an Opportunistic Woman? … No

September 4, 2008 · 20 comments

Have you heard enough about her already? Are you *done* with the blahbitty blah blah banter concerning her chances for Vice President? Well … get over it because I am about to add another chorus to the wall of sound. ::: laugh ::: But, first, here is a video of the highlights of her speech last night. My thoughts are after the jump.

I don't know that I have a whole lot to add to the discussion that a million other people aren't already saying. But I am going to anyway because Palin's speech last night was one of the best I have ever heard.

I posted the included picture to my facebook account. It glaringly shows the bias many already know the media has in this campaign. and a female friend wrote what many Palin critics are saying across the Internet. They say that the only reason why the Republicans picked her was because she is a woman. They go on to say that they are surprised an intelligent woman would be an opportunist and allow others to use her like this.

wow

Any good leader is always looking for opportunity that would benefit the people they are leading. But to say that she is just an opportunist willing to allow others to manipulate her sounds very condescending to me. I might be wrong but … that's the way I hear it.

She has experience as a mother of five, small business owner, grass roots level activities (PTA), local government (City Council), Mayor of her home town and Governor of Alaska. She is a strong Christian and socially conservative on Abortion and Marriage. She is *directly* involved in the energy battle. She is a card carrying NRA member. She has had to oversee finances for an entire state and given money back to the people of Alaska. She is very concerned about the environment AND energy. She fought corruption … and won. Has an 80% approval rating. McCain needed to energize the religious conservatives and Palin brought it. … and on and on.

So … they only picked her because she is an opportunistic woman? ::: roll eyes :::

My biggest concern with Palin is that we have only seen her on the national stage for a week. She has a great resume and I love her personal story and convictions. But we have yet to see how she would implement that knowledge on a National scale. Granted… we haven't seen that of Obama either. It's one thing to have knowledge and it is another to have gained wisdom from the application of that knowledge. That's what I am continuing to be concerned about and looking for in Palin.

I am also still not happy with the RNC in general. It's my hope that McCain and Palin will bring reforms well beyond Alaska.

Again, I don't know how much "new" I have added but wanted to blog about it anyway. What do you all think about all of this :) ?

I'm with you all the way on her speech… it was fantastic. And honestly, I'm enjoying watching the Left choke on their own hypocrisy as they attempt to attack her with sexist rhetoric and cracks about her “inexperience,” when anybody and everybody can tell she has more than Obama.

Another thing that just struck me about the [Worship] Us magazine photo you posted… the headline for Palin: “Babies, Lies & Scandal.” It's like they think the word “babies” somehow fits into the same category as the other two. Is it another manifestation of the Death Culture mentality?

If you have time in between running, green smoothies and taking care of the cutest baby in Boston, I would love to hear more from your perspective as a woman and living in the Northeast.

I didn't catch that but I think you might be on to something. They definitely reduced babies to a scandalous “issue” and not respecting human life. Fox News just reported that around 10,000 people have canceled their subscriptions and more have decided to boycott the advertisers in US magazine.

Oh … and I am amazed, but ultimately not surprised, at watching the far left scramble and manifest the behavior they pride themselves of not being a part of. I never read Daily Kos but I checked the other day and they (not all) are simply some of the meanest people I have ever come across in the blogosphere.

Plus, she is a natural leader/speaker like he is. McCain did very well.

My thought (of course) was….why oh why didn't I approach her about doing a book a year ago? Perhaps because I hadn't heard of her then. Still, can you imagine if a savvy publisher had been on the ball and recognized that this woman has a national future….

I think I need to go lay down for awhile.

I hear that Palins church is hosting a Love Won Out Conference.

She's speaking like a true Republican!

Now if only, The Republican's can speak more for Social Justice. It still sounds like The Republicans are about business and making the rich richer instead of helping to improve living conditions for the poor and making room for low income housing.

If only there were a party that cared for Social Justitce issues as well as influencing the Nation with Judeo-Christian moral values…which Social Justice is huge on God's agenda.

All throughout the bible we see that one of the prime mandates for God's people is to take care of the orphan and the widow in their distress. In the book of Ezekial it also mentions that the iniquity of Sodom was not just the sexual immorality but also not taking care of the poor, having too full of a stomach and laziness.

And so, while many Republican's will support and Orphan through ministries like World Vision, that takes care of the needs of children in underdeveloped countries but what about America? What about North America? What about North American Orphans? What about the many growing up in less than ideal circumstances?

Yes, the church is suppose to meet these needs and The Republican's for whatever reason are to the world the face of Christianity. But sometimes it seems to me that some people are more into the idea of winning a moral debate over the heart of the person who is on the other side.

For me, I've always had in mind to cultivate a relationship with others in the same way that Jesus has cultivated a relationship with me.

I would like some debates to end and the beginning of having practical needs being met.

I am more into meeting the needs of the less fortunate instead of building up the Oil and Gas Industries.

Just thoughts.
