Personal Reboot

Here is one of the most obvious statements ever … humans are really complicated.

Life has been going a little faster than the usual 900 mph and it has been stressful. Plus, with all the news being so negative and selling its soul to making the most money while scaring the masses … I was getting weary.

But last night I had dinner with my fellowship group and talked and laughed for 2 and a half hours. I woke up this morning to glorious fall air (finally) and went to church. I drove in thinking that it wasn’t going to be the most exciting sermon ever because we are in our third of four weeks worth of sermons centered around the major renovations going on with our church.

Don’t get me wrong, the previous two weeks have been good. Pastor Clark is the only person I have heard deliver sermons on “giving” and it make total sense, is *all* blessing and zero manipulation. I love that. Even so, it’s still about “giving” and that tends to bore me because it is a very common topic ;).

Boy was I mistaken.

The Lord blessed me. Nope, I wasn’t glowing like Moses by the end but everything just “cleared” up. The sermon was intended of course for one thing and I got it. But little things Pastor Clark would say in passing were once very big things, paradigm shifting things, to me during my walk with the Lord. Again, it wasn’t like I was sitting there slack jawed and watching the Red Sea part but it was great to be reminded that the Lord was there and speaking corporately … and personally.

Just like He always does. But today, He was reminding me that He knows me intimately. He sees all the work/personal/family stuff and its ok … Life Giving because He is the Life Giver.

I know … cryptic but … there it is :).

I guess it was like the fresh air outside took on a transcendent quality and my soul sighed with relief. Today, I don’t feel the need to be “driven” and do the next thing. I feel secure, relaxed … not worried about tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, the next two weeks are going to be amazingly busy. I am headed to Colorado Tuesday through Sunday for some meetings and a conference. Then come right back for a 3 day meeting. It’s been nice to lounge around my home with all the windows open and cat nap. A perfect “reboot” in the middle of a busy four weeks.
