Seven Days And Counting - Election ‘08 Needs to Be Over

Are you “done” with this political season? I am. I wrote the following in response to a friend who lives in Canada about his Facebook message concerning the election coming up …

I am *ready* for the election to be over. The whole process is very important but I am finding myself getting disgusted with the whole thing. Just really tired of it all.

I will continue to blog about it and do the “liveblog” of election night but I have to admit … I am sick of it all. I am watching people, friends, opponents all pay much more attention to this than their own lives. Some of the things coming out of the mouths of pundits are just horrid. There is a way to make these substantive arguments without having an emotional melt down every 8 minutes. ::: sigh ::: I am even losing the will to go into this too deeply.

Yet, I have to pay attention. There is so much at stake. I once thought of Obama as an opponent I may not vote for but could respect. Now, I can’t say that anymore.

In any case, it’s almost like politics has become the new religion with the media (MSM and New Media) as its prophets (journalists/bloggers) and priests (editors.) The scriptures warn that where words are many, there is sin. The one who holds his tongue is wise.

I am not seeing anyone hold their tongue … are you?

… just seven days and counting.

I voted already and waited in line 2 hrs. and 15 min. for the privilege (and I do mean privilege!), and now wait for the outcome. I'm tired, dog-tired, of the campaigns. Both of them.

I know how you feel, Randy. The last couple of days I have really been thinking about how I need to check my emotions about some of this stuff. Not that I have been freaking out--but some of the anxiety, frustration and anger has potential to go overboard.

It's sad because the media is playing into those things on both sides, trying to find the most offensive extremes and make them news.

You're right; it's so tiring and yet so important. It's nice that we can trust in God and know that one day, even the government will belong to Jesus.

The media is soooooo guilty of stoking and making money off of creating hatred. Seriously, what a Day that will be. Thanks for the empathy.
