Here is the one difference I see between the far left and the religious right. As summed up in this picture, the far left attacks people personally … the religious right goes after issues. The banner on the house of a conservative Mormon family says to vote yes on Prop 8. The SUV message attacks the family personally by calling them bigots. This is just one example of what is happening across the state.
Also, there is the example of publicizing donors to Prop 8 to harass them. ( More thoughts after the jump.)
The person who initiated the Daily Kos campaign to look into the lives of Mormon donors is Dante Atkins, an elected delegate to the state Democratic convention who said he’s the vice president of the Los Angeles County Young Democrats.
Atkins said his goal was to “embarrass the opposition by pointing out and publicizing any contributors they may have.” He said focusing on Mormons made sense. “If one religious group is putting close to the majority of the money and the effort into passing this proposition, it is fair to single them out.”
The Mormon church hasn’t taken the same level of interest in Arizona or Florida, which also have constitutional amendments banning same-sex marriage.

The San Francisco Chronicle article above has a link to a database of all the Mormon donors who support Prop 8. Apparently they are ok with stoking these hateful fires.
I have heard that some with Prop 8 are threatening to publicize companies donating to efforts to defeat Prop 8. I think that is bad but I haven’t seen anyone publishing a donor base of gay couples and encouraging people to harass or embarrass them.
Thank goodness.
People are having their homes picketed and receiving harassing phone calls which is clear intimidation tactics with random acts of violence.
California isn’t alone in facing the wrath of militant gay activism. Florida has seen similar efforts and vandalism (billboard in second picture.) A friend of mine has had 2 signs stolen out of her yard and many more reports like that abound.
Where is the outrage coming from the left over these clear acts of personal aggression and intimidation?

Updates: Queerty (a gay blog) reports on Police making arrests on both for and against Prop 8 protestors. The link to the video coverage show people out of control with their protests.

UPDATE 11/4/8
Man arrested in fight over Prop. 8 signs

CARLSBAD – A 53-year-old man punched two neighbors in their 70s in a dispute over Proposition 8 yard signs Monday night, Carlsbad police said.
The resident on Sandcastle Drive was jailed on suspicion of elder abuse and battery causing great bodily injury, police Lt. Neil Gallucci said.
The couple, a man, 76, and his wife, 77, had placed a sign in their front yard in favor of Proposition 8, which would amend the state constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman. The couple’s neighbor reportedly placed a No on Prop. 8 sign on the couple’s property, in front of their sign, Gallucci said.
They confronted him about it and fight broke out, Gallucci said. Neighbors called police about 8 p.m., saying the younger man had struck the older couple in the face and head. Paramedics treated the pair, who were then going to seek their own hospital care. Gallucci said the woman’s eye, already in a bandage from recent cataract surgery, may have been damaged.
