My Excellent Fun Adventure Through Jury Duty

Today I had jury duty. I had to sit in a room with about 200 people from 8 am till around 2:30 pm. We did break for lunch so that was nice. I think the best part of the deal was hanging out with Photo Chick. She did my publicity pictures and it was great seeing her again. (more after the jump.)
I twittered the following
At jury duty. Security did not like my iPod charger.
Jury room rule #1: if I can hear you sucking your peppermint you are doing it wrong.
The lady who shot my publicity pics is also here in the jury pool. She is fun in an artistic kinda’ way.
Jury room rule #2: even though photo chick agrees it would be fun, DON’T attempt to start “the wave.” Wait for that thing they call football.
Jury room rule #3: telling the judge you need to go home because you are bored out of your mind will not work.
They dismissed us from jury duty! And I didn’t have to do anything. Photo Chick shared three Christmas M&M’s with me. She’s awesome.
Now, my “tweets” also synch with my Facebook status and I got quite a few comments on them within Facebook. Some of my best FBFF’s (FaceBook Friends Forever), who of course have my best interest at heart, had a few suggestions on how to get out of jury duty. Two of the suggestions were to act drunk and when the judge calls me up … I should introduce myself as Eva Gabor.
Uh … no … thanks … While I love irreverent humor, that’s just wrong on so many levels … dahlings.
Another fun conversation was with an older lady and man nearby. She was reading Marley & Me. I am reading the same book so we talked about that and the different dogs we have had in the past. The man jumped in and told us about the three Labradors he currently owns.
Good times. Although, now, I am thoroughly convinced I will never own three Labradors at the same time.
Other than that, and marveling over Photo Chick’s Sudoku prowess, I answered work emails on my iPhone appropriately named “Big Brother.”
In all honesty, I would love to be on a jury (for a short trial
). I consider it as important as voting. It is an amazing privilege. So while I had fun complaining about it, and suffered through the boredom of finding out IF they were going to call me to a jury panel, … I wouldn’t have really begrudged the opportunity if called.
Actually come to think of it… I wasn’t that bored :-).
