The Gospel According to Jack Black: An Anti-Prop 8 Fiasco

I guess it isn't shocking that Hollywood decides to stigmatize and stereotype people of faith. However, this is spectacularly … ignorant. More thoughts and video after the jump.

Warning: the following video is offensive to just about everybody. Or at least I would hope that would be the case.

So… It would seem that Jack's version of Jesus is stuck in the Old Testament and completely ignorant of how Jesus would not flippantly disregard the Old Testament law but fulfilled the Law by paying the price for sin Himself.

But my guess is that no one on that stage was really very concerned about portraying Jesus accurately. This is a perfect example of how different the gay culture war is compared to the true civil rights movements of the past. Martin Luther King would have never condoned this type of protest or characterization of an "opponent." I know that this lazy and cheap shot at people of faith is not reflective of how most who would identify as gay believe is fair or accurate. It will be my prayer that these actors will come to know the Living Christ and take some time to understand those they oppose instead of stigmatizing them as ignorant and selfish.

Hat Tip to Ryan and Breitbart TV.

Clever but unfair, creative and contemptuous. Nobody beats Hollywood when it comes to product consistency.

Wow. Ignorant is right. That's something to pray for; understanding given by the Holy Spirit, and that God would forgive their mockery of Him. This video makes me sad.

That's true … very very true. It's also very disheartening to see all that talent being used in such a manner.

Agreed. And we all know that God is big enough to move in their lives to bring them around to that understanding. I hope that doesn't sound trite but it is what I think.

Those actors are an amazing group of people … if only they could be inspired to create something at least a little more intelligent. I know they are capable.
