Hercules … My New Trainer? – A Gym Update
I finally broke through my first weight plateau right before going to London. And then I went to London, gained the two pounds back but maintained at the plateau. Last week and this week though I have been kickin’ it hard at the gym and have decided to be open to the idea of having a trainer.
Today, I said a little prayer in the gym that the Lord would show me which trainer to approach. Even if it is someone I had mentally checked off the list, I trust His Spirit to incline me to follow through with at least questioning. The Lord helped me in this respect before and it was great experience.
So this time I prayed that the Lord would let me run into whichever trainer He had in mind. This is the first day I would have been ok with a Trainer bugging me with the small talk questions. Well, after saying that prayer I quickly forgot about it.
Well … I did. Just went flying out of my wittle bwain.
Now toward the end of my workout, Hercules showed up and was doing his cardio routine. He and I have talked a few times at the gym. He had me laughing out loud one day on the treadmill. He’s very funny. So today, I look up after killing myself on the chest fly machine ::: oweee :::: and Hercules is jamming to whatever he listens to, looks over and gave a big smile and wave.
Then it hit me, dude knows everyone here so why not ask him who he would recommend as a trainer? I did and he started telling me that a LOT of the trainers there aren’t really trainers. He said that their kind of training is really very easy and they don’t know anything about biology. A few of them are fully accredited and he told me their names. He asked what I was looking for. I said that I am looking for accountability on my food and just someone to help me change up my workout. Then he was like, “you know man, just ask me questions any time they come up. I’d be glad to help.” So he gave me his number and I am going to call him later this weekend. We are going to talk about setting me up a workout/diet regimen.
Prayer answered.

Praying you won’t need either Hollywood or Hercules’ services as a firefighter/paramedic:)
Congrats on losing 20 pounds!

Keep on it! It is worth the sweat. I started going to the gym some years back. I am not religious when it comes to the work out, but I must say that over the years I feel so much better and have so much more energy.
Good luck with the new trainer.

Thank you Philip. I like working out … it’s the food part that I really don’t do very good with. Thanks again for the encouragement.

Awesome. I have been much more into health and fitness the past five or so years than any other time in my life. Now, I just have to quit yo-yo’ing on my diety. Prayers would be appreciated.

Okay, I do fabulous with watching what I eat (portions, protein/carb/fat content, etc.) and despise exercise. I was gonna say struggle with exercise, but that would imply I AM exercising. And I’m not. I have and will again. But right now I’m not. still.
So, I’m going to encourage you to keep making healthy choices (but not the frozen meals with the same name!) about your food, and to celebrate the variety of flavor and texture you can enjoy while eating healthily. . . and you can nag at me to ride my exercise bike and do set/rep work for overall strength/flexibility. Ick.
Congratulations on starting when you’re so young! I didn’t make the decision to be a healthy old person until I was 50! I’m still not where I want to be, but I am much closer than I was 3.75 yrs. ago! Yay for Randy!

so… did you ride your exercise bike yet? You said I could nag you. It’s not often you get permission to nag
.
thanks for being a cheerleader

Um, no. BUT I did go look at it ::sheepish grin:: and discovered the miles/calories display thing needs batteries. I couldn’t ride if I didn’t know how long, how far & how many calories burned on the ride. Obviously. Ha. And I did tell my dh to remind me to get in there & ride, even though I will glare, or roll my eyes, at him when he does. I also found my hand weights so I can do strength work, too. I’m going to start with 15 min. on the bike, and then weight work (circuit training style) for another 20. Sigh. I am. Really, I am.
Nag away! Accountability is a good thing! : )
