Super-Doodle

It’s totally a Super-Doodle.  I don’t think I have ever brought in actual words into my artwork before. This is another of my drawings in my little moleskin journal.  I am using it to explore new things before going to larger canvasses.  This was completely drawn in church over the span of a couple of months :) .

Randy!  It’s beautiful!  It’s kinda Klimt-y, but without the oldy-worldy gold and brown and the obligatory orgasming woman.  In other words, I love it!  I do like Klimt’s patterning, but not the Realism paintings in his designs.  He was defo onto something with the patterning.  No one else had done it before him.
Taking the advice I gave you about painting, and the advice of my last shrink, I’m starting art therapy on Tuesday.  I did A-Level Art (exam course, aged 16-18), and I loved the colour, I loved the materials and medium, but I was totally pants at making the colour on the canvas look like anything on Earth!  But therapy is different, it doesn’t have to be asthetically pleasing.  Unlike your work!  I don’t think what I’ll come up with will be pretty pictures, but who knows what will happen in reality, or what will come from it?
Am trying to get Clare to get her backside in gear about an art class.  She loves charcoal sketching, and there’s a definate style coming out, but it needs developing.  The art is coming back, as she’s getting closer to God and getting her life back!
Did you know that all Celtic Christians back in the day did art, music and writing?  Cos they believed in the giftings coming from God, and that these things were meant to be shared to glorify God.  And they believed that all people had some gifting.  But with giftings being at different levels in different people, one person would focus more on painting, and another more on poetry or hymn writing etc.
And the one way the monks in Taize make any money is by selling the paintings, recycled paper and pottery (wowza stuff) that they make themselves.  Food is one way the Gospel is communicated.  Maybe Art is another way?  But peeps are also saying that in the next few years, as per the Arts in the Reformation, Science will praise God and communicate the Gospel.  Hmmm, my thought links go on…

Excellent.  I was not aware of that concerning the Celtic Christians.  I have to say I have similar thoughts and must agree.  You and Clare should start blogs to post your artwork too.

In response to the Celtic Christians feeling that their art is a gift from God…
