2009 OUT! Come On In 2010 – Some Favorites

So, it’s a little late in the day to be posting this but … I am determined to get it done before Midnight! (it is a long post, most of it and a video after the jump.)

Favorite Movie – Avatar
Hands down. I know that most of my conservative brethren break out in hives over the movie as being liberal propaganda … all I know is , it was a great, simple, epic story with amazing artwork and technological advances. It is a historic moment in movie making history and liberal ideology infused or not … I know what I believe and I know I believe this was one of the best movies ever made.

Favorite Song – Pocketful of Sunshine
Pocketful of Sunshine is a song by Natasha Bedingfield. It was released in 2008 but it remained my consistent most played song on my iPhone.  I love it. It is a great song and reminds me of my prayer journal time with the Lord.  It helped inspire me to go back to handwriting my prayer journal.  Also, Kim Hill did an amazing job singing this song at our Exodus conference last summer.

Favorite Travel Destination – A Tie between London & Mexicali/SanDiego
London – Amazing! I spent time in the English countryside at a conference, ate real Shepherd’s pie in a real English Pub in real England! I had a lot of fun. I met Peter in real life, had fun with Sy & Christine (who just happened to be there at the same time for a different reason.) I saw Wicked! rode the London Eye, listened to Big Ben, took the Red Bus and Boat Tours, St. Pauls Cathedral (breath taking!), changing of the guard at Buckingham palace … and made a lot of new friends. I was deeply moved with emotion when I had to pack up to come home. I was so happy.

Mexicali/San Diego - LOVED the friends I made in Mexicali. I also loved learning that Mexicali is home to the best Chinese food in Mexico! That had really great Mexican food too :) Other than the van gas tank leaking and it being 106 degree outside the van and waiting for 2 hours to cross the border in said leaking van in 106 degrees…without air conditioning … the trip was awesome :) . I tacked on vacation days to the end of that trip to spend some time with my nieces in San Diego and THAT is my favorite travel memory of the year. Here is a video of that :)

I am going to have to do a seperate post on my travel in 2009 … Some AMAZING stories.

Favorite Social Media Moment(s)

Had to be reconnecting with old friends.  People I absolutely loved and hadn’t heard from in years and years.  The Moyer Brothers, Paige, Amira plus many others.  All made possible through Facebook.  Also, connecting with a bunch of new friends!  Especially internationally (England, Mexico and Canada with a couple Aussies and a Kiwi thrown in :) ).

Favorite Artistic Moment

A Taste At Work - My Artwork Makes it To Work

A Taste At Work - My Artwork Makes it To Work

I actually painted something and it actually looked good AND works with my office decor :)

Favorite Spiritual Meditation

On the topic of Grace.  I was surprised to discover how legalistic I was about grace!  I mean I wasn’t going all false gospel about it or anything but man … GRACE is an amazing attribute of God’s love and mercy.  The meditations on this has subtely (?) shifted my attitude and helped mellow me out … I think. ;) .. I hope.

Favorite Family Moment

Honestly, this year has been rough … pretty rough on the family front.  I don’t blog about those things directly because … I just haven’t.  But there are two moments that come to mind as I write this post where the Lord has brought comfort and/or healing.  Amazing moments: Pondering Life, Marriage and Family & Christmas Joy.  And of course the fun family moment was visiting the prettiest smartest cutest most creative girls ever! My nieces :) (in the video posted above.)

There is so much more. I am not ever one for lack of words but I think I will stop here.  Of course the Lord proved Himself over and over again to be loving, faithful and true. I pray that all that was lovely, pleasant, good and true from 2009 will be remembered and bear eternal fruit.  All that wasn’t … would dry up and blow away to not be remembered again.  Shoot, you can pray that every day :) .

Here is to 2010!  May God bless you in every which way to fall in love with Him deeper, abide in Grace and push forward into greater security and maturity in all your relationships.

Oh and we must laugh … a lot.

What are your favorites of 2009?

Rands, it seems like you have had a blessed year.

I’ve had family stuff too, with bereavement, and then things going belly up in the workplace, affecting my health.

But God has richly blessed me and my family this year, and had some amazing times. Kinda like the end of Job. I’m gonna put my round up on my profile. -x-
