Today, I have been either watching the news about Hurricane Gustav or working out. I just remembered that it is Labor Day … Happy Labor Day!
I also just learned that the liberal blogs have started a ridiculous rumor that Trig wasn’t Palin’s own son but her daughters son. And now they are attacking her daughter for being pregnant. Crunchy Con remarks about Andrew Sullivan’s attacks:
I’m honestly shocked, appalled and really disappointed that even after the new photo of Sarah Palin has surfaced, and even after the news about Bristol Palin’s pregnancy has surfaced, Andrew Sullivan continues to puff the disgusting rumor about Trig Palin’s parenthood. Honestly, this kind of thing from someone whose work I often disagree with, but who I respect, leaves me speechless
[From Andrew Sullivan and the Palin smear - Crunchy Con]
This just goes to show that intolerance and stigmatizing people isn’t limited to the conservative wing of things Also, the amazing Charmaine Yoest has a post up about the whole situation. Charmaine is the President of Americans United for Life. I also LOVE that Obama came to Palin’s defense as well.
Thanks Fay for the tip.

I am not sure that the power/cable will or will not go out, but I will be
Twittering throughout Tropical Storm Fay … well … assuming the the cell phone towers don’t go out before the power. Also, my
Facebook status is synched with my twitter account.
So there’s the info if you are bored and wanna’ follow silly, inane and hopefully not horrifying twitter updates on the storm.
We have had tropical storms that ended up not being much. We shall see.

Today, Greg’s comment kind of tipped the scales on something I have been pondering. It’s been percolating around in my brain lately to ask the readers of this blog what it is you would like me to blog about. I know what I like to blog about, but what would you like to see blogged?
Now, I can already hear someone saying, “I would like you to blog about how to turn cat hair into nicely crocheted pot holders.” That, I can pretty much guarantee I won’t blog about.
Well, actually, I probably would because it’s … to put it mildly … an odd thing to think of. Any ideas that are generated from this discussion will be potential “Ask It Basket” topics for the future.
Don’t forget that between now and September 5th, Mensley is picking up the series “Q & A Friday.” He will answer questions submitted at this years Q & A at the Exodus conference that didn’t get answered, or were answered and bear repeating, during the actual main session Q & A. This week, he addresses a question from a Dad seeking to come to terms with his son’s same sex attraction.
I don’t see Q & A Friday going anywhere and in fact might continue for quite a while on my own and others blogs. That said, I must also state that all of those questions are centered around a redemptive view of homosexuality.
The idea in this post is to see what the actual readers of this blog would like to see blogged about here and will include the issue of homosexuality as one among many. What have you enjoyed reading here in the past? What have you missed? Are there other topics that come to mind? Lemmee know either in the comments on this blog post or privately through the contact form.
Thank you in advance for helping me out with this!

This is an excellent blogpost and a good reality check for those who blog. I love the Problogger blog and find it helpful even for us non-pro bloggers :). At the end of the post they ask,
Have you ever had a ‘defining moment’ in your blogging? What did you learn? What decisions did you make? How have you gone since changing your approach?
[From Authentic Blogging]
I have had many defining moments blogging but the first one that came to mind is a recent conclusion about blogging public policy. I realized I really didn’t like blogging about it anymore :). My opinions on such matters didn’t change. I haven’t stopped following or working toward accomplishing specific goals … offline. I still have a McCain “widget” in the sidebar of my blog but … you haven’t seen a whole lot of extensive public policy tracking lately on purpose.

Well, Disqus was pretty cool before but I decided to not use it because they had some issues and I didn’t fully understand what they are doing with the comments. I went back to using them today because they can sync all my comments with their servers and my admin interface. LOVE that. Plus, I have literally deactivated 10 plugins so far because they are features incorporated into Disqus. Another benefit is that it empowers *you* as a commenter to own your comments and incorporate your social networks in some really neat ways.
Right now I am having some importing issues but I don’t have any doubt it will be resolved soon. Until then the old commenting system will be in effect for the older posts. Actually, they aren’t playing nice (old and new) so it will be the new system until the import is fixed. This is starting to annoy me again.
UPDATE: YaY Disqus! The import somehow magically finished earlier this morning and all comments are now showing again on the blog. Thank you!

I can’t tell you how happy I am to be at home. I *love* conference time. I love catching up with friends and making new friends.
But … I have to tell ya’ … being gone from home for ten days is tough. I really like my home :).
I also seem to always plan to do more blogging than I am actually able to accomplish during conference week. However, I have the next two days as comp days so I plan to do summaries of the conference at some point. There is a LOT of interesting tidbits and quotes to blog about so … stay tuned!

Well … I am not getting the chance to blog as much as I would like too. As usual my days are filling up quicker than I can catch my breath.
However, I do plan to get some serious blogging in tomorrow afternoon or evening.
Till then you can check out: Flickr: RThomasETC’s Photostream, or Brenna Kater the Ocean Skater OR Laura Leigh (Laura Leigh has several posts.)
On a quick personal note, I had a great hour long interview with a local radio station and earlier in the day the Lord really blessed me. Still trying to sort it all out.
But, it is 12:30 am and I am frazzled so it will all have to wait for now. More later … promise.

This picture is actually from Sunday. Today is gorgeous but *very* busy with meetings, interviews, people arriving by the droves … it’s very fun but it has been difficult to sit down much less blog.
BUT, I will later on in more detail. I just wanted to post something quick and share that I just had a very good interview with the local channel 13 station and tonight I have another interview with print publication.
Things are a hoppin’!
