Super Tuesday 2008

I love the United States. It is wacky, wild and lately … completely unpredictable. Seriously, how wonderful is it that you have an aging war hero, a young black visionary, an “evangelical” southerner, a former first lady and a rich business man all as the front runners for the Presidential election.
It’s fantastic and yet … it is so completely stressful :). Please join me in praying for the elections and tonights results. Earlier today a friend prayed for wisdom to guide the voter’s hearts. I agree.
UPDATE 10:15 pm: Huckabee had an amazing night across the South … votes still coming in.
UPDATE 10:33 pm: This post is humorous and right on. Thanks Fay. Mitt is speaking and although he has had a difficult night…he seems committed for the long haul.
UPDATE 10:58 pm: Hillary is on a high and showing her true colors…full on attack against Republicans. She is definitely only planning on leading those who agree and wresting power away from those who don’t. Definitely not a unifier.

***UPDATE: Gary reports on his findings… I have posted his message at the end of this post.***
I have had it up to here ::: hand above head ::: with politics but I thought Bauer’s synopsis of last night and the implications of it was very good. He asks some questions at the end that I would love for you all to consider answering in the comments section or emailing Mr. Bauer your answers. I will also put my answers in the comments section.

… you all are just waiting on pins and needles to learn who I voted for right? I mean… with my narcissistic tendencies, I can just imagine that you are sitting there … pensive, forgetting to breath, fingers poised over the keyboard to alert all your friends … just waiting for my decision.
I know this …because, I can “sense” it. ::: laugh ::: I know in reality you are probably not really caring too deeply but I have a high verbal quotient so thanks for hearing me out.
I share this and all of my political views on my own behalf NOT on behalf of Exodus. Exodus takes no position on endorsing any candidates. That said, our employees are US Citizens, so they can choose whoever they want and believe me … we are all over the map. We even have one staff member supporting Ron Paul.
::: wiping forehead ::: I just got dizzy.
Who Am I Going to Vote for Tomorrow?
January 28, 2008 by Randy
Filed under Election '08, Life, Politics, Public Policy, Religion, War On TerrorI have mentioned that I am going to support Huckabee. Since then I have had serious reservations about his foreign policy knowledge and plan. Basically, because of these concerns, I have shut up about the whole mess.
But … the primary is tomorrow. I am still supporting Huckabee because … who else would I support? He is a social conservative … but, I am just very nervous about voting for him. I could see the possibility of changing my vote as I step into the booth.
Giuliani? He would keep us safe … but is opposed to social issues I am concerned about. But he did promise to appoint future Supreme court justices along the lines of Alito and Roberts….
Romney? He was once like Giuliani on social issues and not much track record now that he has changed his mind. He is the only one of the remaining nominees that I have actually met. He has great Executive and business experience but … he represents a religion I have deep concerns about …
McCain - One of my best friends is going to vote for him but I just can’t. He would be more of the same old DC political games. I am frankly amazed he has made it this far. That said, he also would keep us safe and is strong on pro-life issues.
Ron Paul who?
::: sigh ::: Well, we will see what happens.
PajamasMedia Video Goes High Def Streaming
January 8, 2008 by Randy
Filed under Election '08, VideoI have never… never… seen such high quality video streaming on the internet. Check this out. They only have political interviews right now but. You self professing geeks, and those with inner geekiness like me, will not care what the politicians are saying…you are going to be amazed at the quality.
NOW… you do need a high speed connection to fully appreciate the videos.
Huckabee Congratulates Canada on National Igloo
January 8, 2008 by Randy
Filed under Election '08, Homosexuality, Humor, VideoOk… I hate to put this forward but … it’s too funny … it must be seen. I think Huckabee is the kind of guy who would laugh at his own gaffe way back in April of 2001. At least I hope he would.
Not that homosexuality has anything to do with this video but Chris Crain (gay activist) reports that the guy doing the interviews identifies as gay. Just in case you wanted to know that for whatever reason.

This is just so odd. Isn’t that odd? … hmm. This Presidential race is like watching a wreck of a reality show with surprise twists. The unfortunate … er … fortunate? thing is that this reality show will have very real consequences for all of us in the U.S.I am glad for Viggo exercising his rights as a citizen … but that’s about it :). He’s still a good actor.
Big Night for Obama and Huckabee
January 4, 2008 by Randy
Filed under Election '08I am far from a political analyst and in all honesty… politics is really getting annoying. At the same time I enjoy watching the whole process unfold (most of the time.) Also, I may overstate this but any time I blog about politics it is my opinion alone and does not represent Exodus.
I have been watching all of the end of night speeches and Obama’s is coming off better than the others. I can see why he pulled away as the leader of the Democrat caucus in Iowa. I also have to admit, his methods toward unity, hope and preservation I don’t think will work… but the messaging of those themes do. He delivers those themes very well and he speaks in a manner that Gen X and younger can understand and find relevant. Obama just finished and he hits the ball out of the park. I can respect him in the sense that he definitely believes what he is saying and I can trust that he isn’t going to lie. He is wrong on so many things
but I can respect authenticity and he seems to be authentic.
That’s why he makes me the most nervous out of all the Democrat candidates.
Romney coming in so far behind and Thompson/McCain tying for third … makes me happy. Huckabee is my guy but he has really made me nervous and I am not settled yet because of his statements over the past few weeks. Huckabee is going to have to step it up because while he won tonight Obama just overshadowed everyone (IMHO.) He is reaching out across all lines with great messaging and presence. Huckabee needs to do the same. I want to see him as leading *all* the people as “one” nation that Obama hits on all the time.
One side note: I probably am enjoying Clinton’s third place a little too much. She is so obviously not going to be the one who brings “change” to Washington. Just my opinion.
Final Note: I am also very proud that we have come to the day when a man is being “judged by the content of his character not by the color of his skin.” - Martin Luther King Jr. I don’t want Barack to win the Presidential election but tonight’s victory for him is historic. Don’t let that go unnoticed.
MORE:
Tammy Bruce (Lesbian identified conservative) ain’t happy … and still isn’t.
Powerline (a group of lawyers) writes about Huckabee.
Chris Crain (gay activist) is jubilant.
Patrick Ruffini (conservative activist?) is all over the place.EVEN MORE:
Ted Slater opens up a thread on Boundless about the primary.Feel free to add links to other articles concerning this in the comments if you want.
Iowa Caucus Night - Woot!
January 3, 2008 by Randy
Filed under Election '08, PoliticsI am so happy! Because there is the possibility that some of the 1,483 candidates running for President will drop out of the race tonight!
Maybe.
Isn’t it a trip? … You have to have Physics mastered to understand the mathematic gymnastics the pundits are going through in the “what if” games. It’s all turned to blah blah blah blah right now. I just want to know the winners.
If you are a twitterer (or interested) you can follow the caucus results here. It is being run by Patrick Ruffini.
