Exciting news, I had an article published on Boundless today! I had a lot of fun writing it. The artwork for their article is based on my own drawings too. I hope you like both the article and drawings.
It’s a long one but here is a snippet …
… Artists will be stunted if they are not allowed to express. We have to know that the Lord will open the door for us to do so. He is a Good Shepherd and He will tend to His children and the creative gifts he has given them.
We also must be content. Our culture also idolizes artists in a carnal manner and forms an entirely different stereotype to impose on these gifted people. As artists, we must be content that true expression and fulfillment takes place when we work with our Creator to produce something glorious for Him. Whether one person or one billion … or no other human appreciates your efforts, as long as it brings a smile to your Father’s face … that’s all that really matters. Be content.
I’m happy to say that the arts are coming back in full effect. It’s wonderful to see all the fantastic new talent, concerts, skits, videos, songs, worship genres, quality writing, singers, poets, prose and on and on rising up all throughout the Body of Christ. Yes we all know the Word of God is sufficient. The Scriptures are alive and is the voice of God to us. The very cool part of it is that we also give voice to The Word. We sing it, draw it, dance it, rap it, shout it, paint it, act it, record it, reveal it in glorious ways.
We were created by the Creator to create. So … get busy.
And here is a hearty welcome to all the Boundless readers clicking through to visit my blog. Glad you are here! I pray for you to be blessed. Plus, if you are an artist in some form or fashion… let’s see some of your work. You can leave links in the comments if you would like.

American Idol 2008 - Season 7

I don’t want to try to do the “live” blogging thing of American Idol this time around. That said, I am so very happy that this year is obviously going to be better than last year. I was very depressed over last year’s season as compared to the year before when Daughtry should have won.
It seems like the contestants are much more invested and serious this time around. And no one, thank goodness, did the stupid beat box thing.
I love Simon … dude is ruthless. I can’t believe he told a 17 year old kid he looked “haunted” though. That was cold. The guy that he told wasn’t “memorable” … he was right on and orange suit dude… Why do people fight with Simon? It does not come off well with America. The other judges and the audience may boo…but everyone at home is like… yep, that’s right Simon.
Am I wrong?
But, in all honesty, the guy with the dread locks (from Rockwall Texas) … that was my favorite performance tonight. The last rocker guy did great too. Oh and the guy from Grand Prairie TX … don’t know that he was one of the best but I hope he does well too.
It will definitely be an interesting season. I look forward to hearing the ladies tomorrow night.

Hotel California & Life Soundtrack
Throughout my life I have loved music. I haven’t just loved music … I LOVE music. My bio Dad, before he outright disappeared, owned several bars. One of my few memories of him was standing in the middle of a dance floor (as a kid), during the day when no one else was there except the DJ, helping him to balance the music levels coming out of the speakers that were surrounding the dancing area. Even after becoming an adult, in my clubbing days, I always hung around the DJ’s and artists.
I had an ear for what was right and not. I think I got it from my Mom. She loves music too and some of my favorite memories are with her, my brother and I dancing at Granny’s house or singing in her car on our many trips across middle Tennessee.

Fitness Friday #2
Look at this! I had fun making pretty graphs in google docs …
This week was fun. I gained a notch on my belt … woot. I am getting used to the equipment … yay. The only thing I am not getting used to is the one guy who feels the need to rap about gangsta b*ches in the locker room. He’s really loud about it too.
I think that type of misogynistic muzaq-shizza is completely unnecessary while I get out of my sweaty t-shirt into my drive home t-shirt. I would have asked him to shut up but … I am trying to get fit so I can live longer. It would kind of defeat the purpose to be taken out by a hater.
Speaking of really stupid lyrics; Snoop Dogg’s newest “Sensual Seduction” is one of the worst most stupid songs I have ever heard. I know as a Christian, I should try to find some way to empathize and encourage but … that song is just a laugh out loud waste of time.
Sorry Snoopy.

Lenny Kravitz: It Is Time For A Love Revolution

Lenny is one of my favorite Artists. La Shawn Barber is one of my favorite bloggers. Today we are blessed to have both in one place with some very interesting revelations of a middle aged rocker.
Music Review: Lenny Kravitz: It Is Time For A Love Revolution
At 43, Lenny Kravitz is more self-reflective than usual. He recently spoke to Maxim magazine about his newly declared sexual abstinence, “a promise I made until I get married.” Sex-free for the past three years, Kravitz wants more than just a physical connection. “I’m looking at the big picture.”
Relishing the satisfaction that can result from practicing self-discipline in a gratify-me-now culture, the four-time Grammy winner told Australia’s Herald Sun that abstinence “frees you from a lot of things and it also takes a lot of power away from people who are trying to seduce you… Ultimately I’m trying to do the right thing, to honour myself and the other person and honour God.” …
Go read the whole article whether you are a Kravitz fan or not. I think it is very informative and brings a depth to Kravitz’s life that I had not known before. I am going to download his album off of iTunes!

Obama The Statesman

When I watched the above video, I found it very compelling … very compelling. I think Obama is a socialist with regard to his public policy views that have not been fully explained so far. I believe his beautiful words are lacking true substance to actually carry out the well articulated vision. Knowledge does not equate the wisdom practical application obvious in his short time of leadership at a federal level and never in an Executive capacity. I worry that he will be swept into office to only create a whole new set of divisions, anger and disappointment. A lot of people see him as the answer but no one is asking him the tough questions.

Fly Like a Bird - Mariah Carey

I was driving home from work tonight and the news was dark and depressing. I bought one of those cheapy car receivers for XM Satellite radio (had it for almost 18 months and hopefully will never turn back) and was listening to Fox News talk about all the horrible deaths in the storms across the South last night. Then I turn to one of the talk feeds and they are NON STOP whining about how stupid the American electorate must be. So I turn to CNN and they are talking about how the murderous monsters of Al Qeada are using children as young as six years old for propaganda. Not only that, the barbarians kidnapped an 11 year old to force his poor parents to give them 100,000 US Dollars.
Tragedy abounds.
I’d had it. There is only so much horror and complaining you can take in and today my limit was even lower than usual. I then turned to one of my favorite XM Stations, XM 62 “The Suite” which is an R&B feed and Mariah Carey (whom I think is incredibly talented) blew my socks off. I am sure this song is not new but for some reason I just heard it this evening. The lyrics are listed after the jump and I think you will agree that the timing was perfect to hear her worship the Lord in this song. The lyrics were right on time for me and put things back in proper perspective.
