ACLU Blog of Rights = Cheesy Mousepad

Is it me or is this … like … cheesy? I already view the ACLU as an opponent but “blog of rights?” I hate to say this but … I will. Their slogan is a lame opportunistic derivative of our hallowed Bill of Rights. And if you keep rebranding something so amazing as the Bill of Rights, the re-branding threatens to water down the importance of the original. Nowadays the Bill of Rights seem to have been co-opted to the point of any strong desire with the loudest voice is now becoming a “right.”
They are kind of acting like the guy who decided to make a buck by putting the grandeur of a Monet painting on a mouse pad.
Just throw $9.99 at the ACLU and they will attack any Christian you want … well except for Fred Phelps.
All that aside, I know true Freedom. He’s a great blogger in that He has millions of bloggers taking up His Cause.

The ACLU Invites Me to The Party

One of the odd things in life that changes once you become a home owner is how your mailbox fills up with even more stuff “to consider.” For example, I have gotten several new charities trying to get me to support them. All of them so far have been worth while causes that I had heard of but not ever contacted before. I love the free return address labels.
Little sidenote. I don’t like writing my return address on all my snail mail … boring. I am using these labels even though they are of Christmas ornaments (should last through March), Ziggy chasing hearts around (got a ton of these….I am good through September) and some other design that looks like it was drawn by a 9th grade girl bored in English class (should finish out my return address needs for 2008.)
Back to the point, the ACLU (aka American Civil Liberties Union … or … Anti-Christian Liberties Union) cold calls mails me an invitation to join them in their efforts (click picture for full affect. I added the Ziggy sticker.)

Florida Marriage Amendment In Trouble

Calling all registered voters in Florida.Via Liberty Counsel:
We need your help now to collect new petitions from Florida voters during the next two weeks.
We have just learned that, due to an unprecedented audit ordered by the Florida Division of Elections, approximately 30,000 Florida Marriage Protection Amendment petitions have been thrown out. Although over 611,000 signatures were gathered, the amendment is now short by 22,000 petitions as a result of the audit.
The amendment defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman and would prohibit polygamy, group marriage, and same sex marriages from being recognized in Florida. The fight to bring this amendment to a vote has taken much effort and it is not over yet. In 2006, Mathew Staver successfully defended the amendment language before the Florida Supreme Court against an attack by the ACLU. We believe the ACLU will do whatever it can to stop this petition from getting on the November ballot.
