Hurricane? Alberto - An Intervention Letter

AlbertoDear Alberto,

I hope you don’t mind that I simply refer to you as Alberto.  I know I know … "Tropical Storm" and "Hurricane" seem like empowering labels but I want to talk to you man to man, eye to eye … well at least my eyes to the one you are trying to develop.

Now, I can see that you are still upset that Chris Daughtry isn’t the current American Idol.  I too was whipped up into a category one frenzy.  Good talent should NOT be so easily dismissed!  And yet life isn’t fair … it isn’t Alberto … it really, really isn’t.

… and that’s not ok but it is reality.

The problem is that when I get upset, I only have to answer to my personal trainer as to why I had that extra hard boiled egg and piece of cheese this morning.  You on the other hand send entire states and government programs into action.

I mean come on, your anger just put Disney World under a Tornado Watch.  That’s just not right and well … a little petty.  As fun as it is to imagine Tinker Bell flying willy nilly through the air screaming little fairy screams … it’s the children who aren’t laughing today Alberto.

Think of the wet, cold and wimpering children … doesn’t that make you sad Alberto?

Speaking of reality shows, it seems you have secured your own for the next couple of days.  Unlike the Surreal Life you have the attention of more than two people and all the cable network news.  I think I even saw a graphic CNN made of you with fangs photoshopped in.  You don’t have fangs do you?  I think they like doom for some reason.

Are you going to use this as an opportunity to bring good by putting out all the wildfires and ending our drought?  Or are you going to be selfish and hold on to your Chris Daughtry losing inspired bitterness?

The world is watching Alberto.  Release the bitterness by channeling it into positive energy.  You can do it Alberto … calm down.

I am on my Treo so can’t do the liveblog thing but I have to tell you… I am loving the season finale, very pleasantly surprised.

More later but I am a big Meatloaf fan. His duet with Katherine … I REALLY enjoyed it. Paris and Al were cool too… it is all good. More later…

Elliott and Mary J !!!! Singing U2 … YESSSSSSSSS! That is GREAT.

Carrie Underwood is sooooo good.

Taylor and Toni Braxton…. YESSSSSSSSSS. Her voice was a little weak … but you know … who cares… grrrrrrrlllllzzzz rule.

I love healthy change.

plus she is a very good singer in spite of this one song.

Moving on …

I am ambivalent on Clay’s new look.

The whole segment ending with Dionne Warwick had me smiling from ear to ear. What great old songs. I grew up singing a lot of those songs.

Brokenote Cowboys ::: shaking head with laughter ::::

The inimitable PRINCE is so cool… That was great too. I guess this did turn into live blogging. :)
TAYLOR WINS! I guess that’s it. I have to admit … I loved this finale and I am happy for Taylor.

American Idol Final Two - Taylor or Katherine?

***Update 5/24/06*** Mensley calls last night’s contest "American Mediocrity."  One word: OUCH.

***Update 5/24/06*** The Venomous Beauty live blogged the event and is on the same vibe regarding McPhever.  Great minds think alike.

Well tonight is the final sing-off for this season’s American Idol.  I have to tell you that I am not alone in thinking that it is a bit of a rip-off that Chris Daughtry isn’t on this show.

Even so, the show must go on.

OK… let’s talk shop.  Katherine needs a humility check.  She has wonderful potential but that *attitude* really needs to be put in place.  Her dismissive attitude toward her parents last week and the overwhelming personal "I’m not going home" type glee as Elliott Yamin was making his exit … come on Katherine.  I can understand being happy, jubilant even, but be considerate.  Plus, I was so sad (not surprised) to see Elliott go.  Chris was my favorite singer but Elliott was my favorite person.  He just seemed like a genuine nice guy.

Glenn Beck, on his new television show, said that Katherine appears to be doing this because she wants to be famous whereas Taylor Hicks really loves music.

That is exactly why I am voting for Taylor.  And again, Katherine will do fine regardless.  Either way, I am probably going to buy Chris Daughtry’s first album before theirs.  More later I’m sure.

Chris Daughtry?  Gone from American Idol.  It’s not right and downright wrong.  I truly can’t believe it.  Wow.  Katherine sure did get lucky this week.

Scroll Down for Updates

Ok…so I am not going to liveblog the thing (well, not live blog but almost live blog) but I want to mention them until the winner is announced.

  • Elliott Yamin - Great guy.  He looks like someone you can trust and I love that he has really stepped up to the plate the past few weeks.  I hope he makes it to the top three but am worried for him.
  • Taylor Hicks - never ever never ever ever ever never ever roll around on the floor to Play That Funky Music White boy again.  I like his personality and think he has a good voice but don’t like him better than the other three.  I know he will have a great career regardless.
  • Katherine McPhee - beautiful and very talented.  I think she and Chris will be the top two.  She is a natural and a wealth of talent.   I like her but am going to vote for Chris because it’s time for someone other than a Pop Princess or R&B to win.
  • Chris Daughtrie - fantastic singer and also very talented.  He is committed, consistent, a natural and a hard worker.  He has a great stage presence and is going to do very well in the rock world.  I am voting for him because he is as good as Katherine but in a different genre.

I am really looking forward to tonights show.  Updates to come afterward..

Sniffle - Live Blogging a Head Cold

Have you ever had sinus pain that was so bad your teeth ached?

I am out of denial and fully accept that I have a full on head cold.  This afternoon I was blessed when a friend who called from Jamaica (he actually lives there.) He called about something else but of course when I am sick I whine to anyone who will listen (hence the blogpost :) ).  He recommended I mix limes with honey and drink garlic tea.

Well … that’s just … ::: shrugging shoulders ::: … that’s just crazy!

Isn’t it?

As much as I love my Jamaican brother, I did buy some other kind of serious drugs and am now zombified on the couch blogging.  Fox News plays in the background and I look forward to tonight’s round of American Idol.  Unless the drugs take over and I can’t stay awake.

::: I just sneezed so hard I need a squeegee :::

So ::: sniffle ::: what do you do to survive/combat/kill a head cold?

Ok … don’t tell anybody but …

I have watched the elimination shows for American Idol the past few weeks. I have watched both nights of singing this week and am going to watch the elimination show tonight….

I will have seen all three shows this week and I am afraid to say…I am hooked.
Hudnall sums up my thoughts for tonight’s show perfectly.
