Click on the photos to be taken to the uploaded versions on Flickr. These are photos not scans so they aren’t perfect lighting but since they are black and white, it doesn’t take to much away.
I just need to get a scanner some day. I titled these as breaking out because there is something different to them compared to my usual. I showed some of my work to another artist at church, for the first time, and he had *great* feedback. Very helpful. He said my “color theory” is unique and in some of the pieces I paired colors together that aren’t supposed to work but do. He was impressed.
I have no idea what color theory is.
And it really doesn’t matter in the drawings above.
My friend told me I should investigate colored pencil more. He says the one piece I did in color pencil has an amazing amount of emotion.
Cool. Anyway, hope you enjoy the above.

Well for some reason can’t quit coughing and I am trapped inside my house. I thought I would try my hand making a collage with my artwork. This is a combination of about five color prints of five of my drawings. I learned a lot about the process and have ideas for future work :).
The lighting is not so great but I think it’s pretty good for a first try. What do you think?

Exciting news, I had an article published on Boundless today! I had a lot of fun writing it. The artwork for their article is based on my own drawings too. I hope you like both the article and drawings.
It’s a long one but here is a snippet …
… Artists will be stunted if they are not allowed to express. We have to know that the Lord will open the door for us to do so. He is a Good Shepherd and He will tend to His children and the creative gifts he has given them.
We also must be content. Our culture also idolizes artists in a carnal manner and forms an entirely different stereotype to impose on these gifted people. As artists, we must be content that true expression and fulfillment takes place when we work with our Creator to produce something glorious for Him. Whether one person or one billion … or no other human appreciates your efforts, as long as it brings a smile to your Father’s face … that’s all that really matters. Be content.
I’m happy to say that the arts are coming back in full effect. It’s wonderful to see all the fantastic new talent, concerts, skits, videos, songs, worship genres, quality writing, singers, poets, prose and on and on rising up all throughout the Body of Christ. Yes we all know the Word of God is sufficient. The Scriptures are alive and is the voice of God to us. The very cool part of it is that we also give voice to The Word. We sing it, draw it, dance it, rap it, shout it, paint it, act it, record it, reveal it in glorious ways.
We were created by the Creator to create. So … get busy.
Go read the whole thing.
And here is a hearty welcome to all the Boundless readers clicking through to visit my blog. Glad you are here! I pray for you to be blessed. Plus, if you are an artist in some form or fashion… let’s see some of your work. You can leave links in the comments if you would like.

I thought about posting one of my drawings for the
PhotoFriday Theme “Art” this week but … I saw this picture and for some reason really wanted to post it instead. This lamp is older than I am and has been a part of my home the entire time. That is genuine crystal.

This has been a good weekend.
Friday and Saturday I worked a little on some reports I had to have by tomorrow (done :)) and getting ready for my housewarming party last night. It went great.
Thank you to all my friends who sent cards and blessings who couldn’t be at the actual party. You were missed but thought of and prayed for.
As for the picture above, the framed one is of a drawing of my Great Grandmother’s and my Grandmother’s homes.
Back in January Alan asked me for some colored prints of my favorite drawings. I gave them to him and eventually forgot all about it. Then, Leslie took those prints and through something akin to magic, transferred them to this sign. Isn’t that creative! I love it. It is very personalized and thoughtful.
Thank you all for helping to bless my new home!

For my blog’s regular readers, do you remember when I went to Disney last week with friends? Some of those friends are a single Mom and her three kids. I have known them now for little over a year and we have become good friends. I really got to know her kids that day at Disney and they are a delight. There is two boys and a girl. The oldest is a boy of 10 years old, the girl is 8 and the youngest son is 5.
Well part of the discussion that day was about how this Mom was awakened earlier in the week by a noise and she thought someone had tried to get in her home because a door beep-beep-beep went off and she found one of the doors slightly open. She thought it might have been one of the kids and just put the alarm fully on “just in case.” She told me this at Disney and we all were encouraged when she said she has been setting the alarm to full alert at night ever since.
Then, the following Saturday, all hell breaks loose.

The following excerpts are from Spurgeon’s Morning devotional for yesterday (From Morning & Evening Devotional Revised and Updated by Alistair Begg.) My mentor gave me this devotional book for my birthday last month. I love it.
…Our love for Him is the result of His love for us. When studying the works of God, anyone may respond with cold admiration, but the warmth of love can only be kindled in the heart by God’s Spirit. What a wonder that any of us, knowing what we’re like, should ever have been brought to love Jesus at all! …
… Love, then, has for it’s parent the love of God shed abroad in the heart; But after it is divinely born, it must be divinely nourished. It is not like a plant, which will flourish naturally in human soil–it must be watered from above. …
… Love must feed on love. The very soul and life of our love for God is His love for us.
I love Thee, Lord, but with no love of mine,
For I have none to give;
I love Thee, Lord; but all the love is Thine,
For by Thy love I live.
I am as nothing, and rejoice to be
Emptied, and lost, and swallowed up in Thee.
Think about it, every time we yearn for God, to know Him and love Him, perhaps it isn’t our own yearnings we are experiencing … it is His yearnings made manifest in us for us. Our minds, those born of the Spirit, quite naturally supernaturally respond with meditation, prayer and worship. Yet the passion in our hearts is really initiated by Him drawing us close.
It’s not simply an issue of "I love You Lord, help me to love You more." It is more often than not, "I am empty Lord, fill me with Your love so we can have communion."
So, I wanted to show you all the end result of the project I have been working on for the past few weeks. I also wanted to try out the video feature… after taking some advice … to see what happens.
Video quality is much better. Lighting and the fact that I cut myself out of the video … chalk it up to a learning experience.
I hope you like the art.
