Pastor Bob is one of four mentors I have had during my Christian walk.  When I lived in Texas I went to his wonderful church. Now that he is on the Exodus board I get to see him more often so that is verra nice. To the point:

Alan Chambers Responds to Gay Pride Month Declaration

June 8, 2009
Thumbnail image for Alan Chambers Responds to Gay Pride Month Declaration

From Charisma Magazine Online:
Ultimately, the biggest problem I have with Obama’s proclamation is our difference of opinion on what is truly worth celebrating. I chose to leave gay life more than 18 years ago because the self-indulgent, empty pursuits I encountered there are certainly not worth commemorating. It’s the life I live now as a [...]

People with Same Sex Attraction Tortured and Murdered Abroad

April 23, 2009

I honestly don’t understand these cultures and how anyone can justify this behavior toward people with same sex attractions. I literally wept when I read about the anal torture and the young boy who was hanged. Alan, some of our staff at Exodus and I have been thinking and praying about what can be done and the best way to do it (public, private, personal, organizationally, with other organizations … lots of factors.)

Day of Truth Receiving A Lot of Media Attention

April 16, 2009

… I hope they will talk about how everyone needs to be empowered with more information, not less. I hope they will talk about every person’s right to determine his own course in life. I hope they will talk about how to show compassion to their gay and lesbian peers. I hope they will talk about the thousands of men and women, like me, who are living beyond the gay life we once thought was our only future. It’s a conversation I wish I could have had back then. …

The Uganda Conference Controversy

March 13, 2009

The Christian Post article itself covers more of the details and of Warren Throckmorton's opinions.  I am going to quote the part that quotes Exodus:
Exodus International said it applauds its board member Don
Schmierer, who attended the Uganda conference, for his effort to convey
an “alternative message that encompasses a compassionate, biblical view
of homosexuality,” according to a [...]

Ex-Gay = Straight?

February 4, 2009

Rose writes:
>I don’t see our “thinking” has changed at all.

Hmmm. I preceive there being less suggestion that ex-gay = straight. You don’t think so?

>All of the questions you have asked are available in short form in many areas across this blog and the Exodus website.

Well, I know. I guess I wanted some analysis on how [...]

What If Ted Had Told the Truth?

January 20, 2009

Another friend and co-worker speaks up about Ted
… In recent news reports, Ted Haggard chastised church leaders for missing an opportunity to use his scandal to “communicate the gospel worldwide.” Despite how we may feel about the circumstances surrounding Haggard, I believe we have the responsibility to ask: Is he right? Did we, the global [...]

January 19, 2009

A couple of months ago I learned my testimony in a newsletter printed almost 10 years ago was being copied and handed around in a small African Village. My first small group leader was on a missions trip, for a whole different reason, and was pleasantly surprised to see my face in the local village [...]

What Ted Haggard Can Still Teach The Church

January 14, 2009

Alan … is awesome. And I am not just sayin’ it because he is a friend and my boss. He just is. Here is an excerpt from his article on Ted Haggard appearing on Worldnet Daily today …

Dennis Jernigan = Awesomeness

January 9, 2009

Today I had lunch with Alan and Dennis Jernigan. I’ve hung out with Dennis before but in 1992 I went to see him in concert. The notable part of that, for me, is that I was *highly* skeptical of his testimony of having left a homosexual background. It was the first “Christian” concert I had [...]
